The night of the election, Trump was tweeting (as usual) some things regarding that he was winning and other election news (as expected). But the not-so-normal thing about the tweets was that Twitter censored (added a warning and wouldn’t let anyone view it without clicking the “view this tweet” button) two of them actually on election day/night. Within a few SECONDS after the tweets were posted they were censored. Twitter had SECONDS to read it, and censor it, they most likely have a team stationed up monitoring politicians’ tweets. However, I would like to point out that NONE of Joe Biden’s tweets have been censored. That may be considered after the election as election interference. As for the two tweets themselves, they weren’t much different than our president’s normal self-promoting tweets. Except for the fact that Twitter censored them. In the first tweet, Trump said, “We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Polls are closed!”
The warning itself on this tweet said, “Some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process. Learn more”
The same warning was placed in the second place which read, “Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances Democrat-run & controlled. Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted. VERY STRANGE, and the “pollsters” got it completely & historically wrong!”
Many, many people are just looking at election results through Googling “election results”, in which Google sources the Associated Press. Whether or not Big Tech Companies impacted the election that much, they obviously did to a certain extent. It is quite obvious that if there wasn’t social media in this election, the current results (and general events of the election) would be much different.
