During the pandemic and through 2020, we have faced struggles. Now that it's 2021, we all hope it will be a better year. So far, the Pfizer vaccine and many others have come out, Pollution is dropping, and many other good things that are making 2020 not seem that bad, and 2021 seem like a new and beckoning horizon of hope.
As we all know, January 6th, 2021 was supposed to be a great day. The day that Biden and the election would get certified in the country's capital, like always. But January 6th has become a darkening day to all. American terrorists for Trump came on January 6th, 2021, to stop the election's certification, believing that Biden had not won.
All over Twitter, Our 45th president’s favorite social media site, Trump had kept saying he hadn't lost the election. Bringing in propaganda saying he won.
Darkening that shadow, these American Terrorists, believed that and started to break into the Capitol building to try and stop the certification. Believing that if they didn't stop it, Trump would win and be president once again. So, therefore, they started to break in. Most of them were armed with shields and guns, but some had knives and one seemed to have a baseball bat. There was not much police in the area, and so they didn't help much. The national guard was called immediately but once the terrorists were in the building, the National Guard still wasn’t there.
Inside the capital, there are tunnels to escape in case of an emergency since in Politics we still have not figured out how violence, police, and pepper spray keep weaving themselves into it.
There were many very low points to this day, concluding in the biggest one, The second time Americans broke into the Nation's Capital successfully, not counting when the British broke in in the war of 1812. But there are definitely lower points to this wretched day. First things off, the Chief of Police for Washington D.C. resigned after those traumatizing events. Second of all the Sergeant of Arms was fired, for not keeping to their post. For the Sergeant of Arms one and only job is to not let people, especially our own Americans, and especially terrorists, break into our Nation’s Capital. And for not doing that, they were fired.
But the lowest of the resignations was definitely the many East Wing staffers resigning, loads of presidential aides resigning, along with Besty DeVos and Elaine Chao. Many people, aides, and everything resigned, a lot of Trump's officials did as well.
“That behavior was unconscionable for our country, there is no mistaking the impact your rhetoric had on the situation, and it is the inflection point for me.” Besty DeVos says right before resigning.
Not a long time after DeVos resigned one person from Donald Trump's Cabinet resigned saying only two words before leaving,
“Good Riddance,”
What will this day be called in the future? Defeat day? Go like September 11 and just call it January 6th? Or maybe we will call it the day that we realized America was falling.
